St Charles, IL

The Fighting Saints opened the season at historic Norris Stadium in Coach Nolan Possley’s first game as varsity head coach and they didn’t take long to show their fans the result of their off-season work with a great effort in all phases of the game.

The Saints scored twice in the 1st Quarter.  First, a monster hit to the QB off the edge by Gavin Rabe causes a fumble leading to a Charlie McArdle “Scoop & Score” early in the quarter.  Later in the quarter, Blake Schuette scores on a dazzling 100-yard kick-off return for a touchdown.  Lincoln-Way Central scored a passing touchdown late in the first quarter.

There was no scoring in the second quarter to take the game into the half with the Fighting Saints up 14-7.

The Saints come out of the half with the opening possession and score quickly on the drive’s first play with an 80-yard pass from Lane Robinson to Mason Tousignant for the score.  Then, with 8:17 on the clock in the third quarter, Jack Griffin and the defense come up big again with an interception.  The Saints offense takes advantage with an eight-play drive capped off by a 1-yard run by Lane Robinson.

Lincoln-Way Central scores late in the fourth quarter.

Saint Charles East finishes a great opening game with the win behind tremendous efforts from all of the Fighting Saints.
